9 tries from The Cockles ensured an emphatic victory, played out at Clennon Valley. The Cherries did score 3 converted tries of their own but it was never going to be enough against the speed and power of our boys. This 55-21 win, moved us to 2nd place in Devon Merit Table 1, now chasing down Barnstaple who they play in a couple weeks.
The first try came from a crash up the middle by Dan Sanders, offload to Lloyd Murrin and out to Harvey Ridgeway who scored the first of a hat-trick of tries during the afternoon. Joe Harris went over next followed by Sam Fulthorpe, Andy Lendon and Harvey again. With 3 conversions from Sam Fulthorpe, The Cockles led 7-31 at half time.
A busy second period saw further scores from Dan Sanders, Jacob Unwin, Harvey and Joe Poole on his debut. Lloyd Murrin struck two conversions to close the score out 21-55. The experience of vet players Richie Guy, Ian Dunstan, Alex Hooper, Paul Flower, Andy Williams and Matt Hannah added to the work rate of the young guns, returning Jake Sharp, Charlie Garratt, Rich Crellin, Dan Carey, Matt Seager & James Goss
Next up a home game against Devonport Services Pilgrims who The Cockles beat 41-40 earlier in the season.
