Effort with No Reward

Our trip to Plymouth on Saturday, ended with little return for Exmouth Rugby, going down 17-33 to Devonport Services.

The COCKLES did score two lovely tries from Matty Ryan & returning Lewis Geran with Gareth Roebuck kicking two conversions and one penalty. Despite a resurgence during the second half, the lads could not make everything work for them. Jake Inglis and James Clarke looked tricky with ball in hand, however ultimately it was the power of the home side driving maul, with close to try line weight that undid the defence in poor conditions. Heavyweight tries.

The hosts were better on the day, with Exmouth will look to bounce back with a home game next up on Saturday 11th November. The visitors, Weston-super-Mare RFC will kick off at 2.30 pm. Exmouth will be looking to find their winning form in the first of two consecutive home games, with Ivybridge RFC on 18th November.
______________

COCKLES QUINS lost out to near neighbours Withycombe RFC 1st Team, going down 0-18. In atrocious conditions for both teams, the game it-self was very close. Errors from the home side helped seal their fate, giving up two tries, with a couple of penalties as well. Withies had the winning edge on the day, over the COCKLES second team. Exmouth never stopped trying to get a break back into the game, the home side forwards put a lot of pressure on the more experienced visitors. A good game to watch, although very soggy.

Saturday 11th November should see EXMOUTH QUINS & COLTS travel to Ivybridge and Plymouth. NOMADS at home to Crediton.
