Game 1: Topsham 45 - 25 Exmouth

Game 2: Topsham 5 - 25 Exmouth

Game 3: Topsham 30 - 35 Exmouth

Clear and bright, if a little sharp was how Exmouth found Bonfire Field, for a good hour of mini rugby, which included over 30 tries.

With both squads each boasting 20 plus players, the hour playing time gave everyone time on the park. The first of three seeded games got underway, with both sides fielding senior players.

The first 12 to run out for Exmouth had an uncharacteristically slow start with half hearted efforts at tagging and painfully slow passing, leaving the playing field wide open for Topsham. Topsham’s passing at pace and great support play proved too strong for the sluggish band of Cockles. Only towards the end of the game did Exmouth start playing to their true potential, too little too late, as Tops claimed the scalp 45-25.

In contrast the second game saw Exmouth really take control of the game. Captained by Hughie McOwen the young Cockles fought hard for possession, tagged effectively, and supported in numbers. There were some good passages of play, with the ball being passed at pace and producing results. Topsham, pressured into making mistakes, didn’t seem to have any answers and lost the game 25-5.

The final game, Captained by Ieuan Kidd saw whoever wanted to play, play. Tit for tat tries, all well worked from both teams saw Exmouth winning the final game 30-35. A real cliff-hanger for the supporters.

Exmouth’s try scorers were, Tom Cooke, Will Tidbull (2) Ethan Langson Justice (2), Kidd (2), Toby Gilbody, McOwen (2), Joseph Stevens, Connall Deehan-Jackson(2), Morgan Wright, and Ollie Toomey(2).
