Conditions were perfect for an open game and the young Cockles had a fitting end to there season winning both games at Bitton Park. Samuel-Jay Verth had the honour of captaining both of the games. The first game saw Exmouth characteristically start a touch sluggish; however it wasn’t long till the cobwebs were blown away and from there in they controlled the game in all areas. Tagging was up, and the support play was outstanding. Apart from the odd solo try, the rest were the culmination of well worked team play and brilliant passing. Exmouth in the lead at the break by five tries to three.

The second half started much were the first left off. Rolling subs ensured everyone got time on the park, and the gulf in ability at the start of the season has certainly narrowed. Almost any seven could have held there own against this opposition. With slick passing and awareness of their support players, the young cockles spread the ball and used a relatively small pitch to there advantage. They soon sussed out the oppositions star players and once they were reigned in, the result was never in question. Score at the whistle 9-6.
The second game got underway after a short break and brimming with confidence it soon became a try fest. Exmouth off the ball were so clinical with their tagging Teignmouth found themselves on the back foot and the turnover was forced on many occasions. Fulthorpe’s support play was immense and that earned him a hat trick before the break, Exmouth leading six tries to three.
The second half wasn’t nearly as explosive as the first as Teignmouth were allowed back into the game and produced some fine scores. Score at the final whistle Exmouth nine, Teignmouth seven.
