Game 1: Exeter Chiefs 5 - 45 Exmouth

Game 2: Exeter Chiefs 20 - 30 Exmouth

With a squad of 27 young cockles all chomping at the bit for playing time, this fixture proved to be as much a success off the pitch as it was on. From the most senior players down through to the debutants, the coaching staff managed to keep a well balanced side on the park throughout both games, whilst trying to ensure playing time for all. This made for perhaps the most enjoyable game the travelling support had witnessed to date.

The squad worked hard from the whistle and immediately took control of the game. Confidence grew as the cockles ran in 7 unanswered tries, all of which were well worked team tries. Excellent work at the breakdown, offloading and receiving at pace, and everyone playing with their heads up, The Chiefs really didn’t know when or where Exmouth were going to score next.
The second half saw a lot of changes, however Exmouth were still the dominant force on the park. The Chiefs did pull one back, credit to their determination, as they were completely outclassed in all departments.

The second game and the ratio within the team was more in favour of junior players. Their resolve fuelled by the first game gave them the edge at the start and belief in their own abilities snowballed to heights not previously seen. This composure spread like wildfire through the squad and each and every squad member played with a vigour that left Chiefs, who were now starting to play some good rugby, with very few options.

Try scorers being Ollie Toomey (3), Samuel Jay Verth (2), Morgan Wright (2), Will Tidball (2), Max McConaghy, Josh Wibberley, Ethan Langson-Justice, Zach Higginson, Callum Cross and Joseph Oates.
