Exmouth 22 - 16 Okehampton

Exmouth need to win all their remaining matches to get any silverware this season and they had already been beaten away at Okehampton earlier this year. Exmouth were nearly at full strength for the first time since they beat league leaders Crediton at the beginning of the season, so expectations were high.

It was nip and tuck up until 25 minutes played. Okehampton had converted two penalties with the wind and the Cockles came back from a well practiced 8-9-11 from the base of an attacking scrum. Kev Rodwell who had another terrific game scoring wide out. Okey added another penalty before half time.

Playing with the wind Exmouth always looked dangerous and it was from a 5 metre line out that skipper Sam Bull dived over after good work from the dominant Exmouth pack.

With Exmouth pinning the visitors into their own half it was from a 5 metre scrum that Man of the match Joe Parkin beat his opposite number to the ball to increase the lead. Adam Morris adding the conversion. Minutes later after a rare incursion into the Exmouth half the Okehampton winger was barged into touch after kicking from 30 metres out towards three defenders. The referee had no delay in giving a Penalty Try!

Both teams showed signs of ill discipline at times and from the 40 metres out Parkin Junior took a quick penalty which was spun wide and then back to Parkin Senior who scored to make this a well deserved win for a deserving team performance.
