Honiton 12 - 3 Exmouth

Having totally dominated the first half Exmouth should have come away with the points, but a storming second half by Honiton won the match.  Possession and territory were Exmouth’s, but they just couldn’t break down the stubborn, spoiling defence that Honiton threw at them for the first 35 minutes. Exmouth had the slope but couldn’t score.

The first points came from the boot of Howard Smith from a penalty wide out.  Honiton had two opportunities soon afterwards, but both attempts went wide. Honiton used the slope to good effect and soon capitalised on some good work to score an unconverted try wide out.  They added a second 10 minutes later which saw some excellent interplay and handling from backs and forwards.

This was a good display by an improving Honiton team against a good but sometimes naive Exmouth outfit.
