Crediton 16 - 10 Exmouth
Crediton are always strong at home and after a 34 points to nil drubbing away at Exmouth, they were up for revenge. With skipper Joe Parkin, unavailable due to international duty, it left Mark Roach to lead the Cockles. He was dominant in the lineout, but Crediton had the upper hand in the scrums.
Crediton took an early lead with a penalty and after 11 minutes scored a good try wide out after Exmouth were caught napping. The final play of the half saw Lewis Davison crash over for an unconverted try.
Exmouth bounced back in the second half with Ian Perkins off the bench and racing 50 metres to make an immediate impact on the game. A late try and penalty put Cerditon into a lead but Exmouth kept hammering away until the final whistle. The manner of the win was evidence of the Crediton reaction to the win. A hard fought, but fair result ably refereed by Dave Crawford and in the full spirit of the game.
