Exmouth 47 - 0 Crediton
This match was sewn up in the first half at 21 points to nil, but Exmouth kept the pressure on for the full 70 minutes scoring a further four trys.
Crediton never gave up and defended stoutly throughout, but it was the manner of the trys and the inter-play between forwards and backs which made this game a spectacle.
Ty Tuckett was first on the score sheet after taking a short ball between the centres to crash over. From the restart Oscar Murray gathered, fed Tom Parry , who in turn fed 'man of the match' Dan Macleod, who raced in from 50 metres. To round off the first half Macleod added his second after good work and good hands at the ruck by Brad Skinner.
Crediton rallied for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but failed to penetrate Exmouth's half at all, apart from four restarts and a spell in the final minute of the match, such was the tactical strategy of the home team. Tuckett added his second after Tom Barnard did the donkey work. This was closely followed by great inter-play from all fifteen players as the ball
went one way and then the next before Ian Perkins scored.
Winger Glen Lawton fielded a kick which he then punted towards the posts, a suspicious kick to say the least, but first to win the foot race was Macleod for his third and minutes later another great build up from the kick off saw him grab his fourth , and 'man of the match'.
Howard Smith excelled with the boot converting six out of seven conversions as well as marshalling the Exmouth mid-field. This team has yet to concede a point in the Devondale Electrical Distributors Colts league and is going from strength to strength. The team spirit is good and everyone from the large squad of players is getting their opportunity to play and contribute.
