Exmouth Accidentals 38 - 10 Mortonhampstead

Exmouth 4th team, known as The Accidentals took to the field at the Imperial Ground on Sunday to play their third game of the season, having previously beaten Channings Wood and Mortonhampstead in away fixtures.

The side was formed to give players who perhaps cannot play on a Saturday or would just like to play a game of rugby with no pressure of league or merit table but just for enjoyment. The side included Nick Southern, Chris Wright, Ricky Croal and veteran Roger Holman

8 minutes into the first half, Donny Lynaghan scored an unconverted try and 5 minutes later Mortonhampstead scored in the corner following a missed tackle to level the score. Virtually from the re-start, Nathan Budd called a dummy then passed the ball out to Rich Hall who dived over near the posts but again no conversion points.

Just on half time, following a line out, Jack Downie took the ball across the pitch and offloaded to Dean Bywood for him to score near the corner. Alan Pyne kicked the extra points to give the Accidentals a 17 – 5 lead on the whistle.

Straight from the kick off, Exmouth took the ball and passed from Bywood to Adam Morris and then on to Jack Downie for him to touch down in the corner, with Pyne kicking a superb conversion.

The Accidentals further increased their lead 5 minutes later when Bywood went over in the far corner, again Pyne kicking the conversion.

Mortonhampstead could not break the Exmouth defence until 20 minutes into the half when they scored their second try but the conversion hit the posts.

The Accidentals held strong and it was not until the final minutes of the game that John Justice crossed the line to touchdown under the posts and he successfully kicked the conversion making the final score Exmouth Accidentals 38 points Mortonhampstead 10 points.
