OPMs 0 - 53 Exmouth

Exmouth played against the wind in the first half and, after only 12 minutes, Jim Nye put the first points on the board with a try, which Dean Chisling converted.

Exmouth parked up in OPMs territory for the duration of the half,. Nathan Bull, who had only just got on after his dad “Ivor Bull” got lost (that’s a jug Ivor!) scored from an Exmouth drive in the corner, not converted.

Nathan’s frustration at arriving late was really showing and, five minutes later, he went over for his second try.

It was a very one sided affair with OPMs trying to contain Exmouth. The forwards were really doing a great job and, in the 30th minute, Jim Nye went in for his second try, not converted.

The second half was a replica of the first. The backs, as in the first half, were showing their experience, driving into the OPM’s backs to recycle and join up with the forwards which gifted Ian Urmston a try.

Not long after this, winger Paul Burder scored near the posts for Dean Chisling to pop over the conversion. It was just one way traffic now when, a few minutes later, wing forward Russ Coombes scored, again not converted.

From the restart, Exmouth took play into OPMs half and once again, Russ Coombes obliged when OPM’s lost control of their own scrum for a simple touchdown. Dean Chisling converting.

In the dying seconds, Jim Nye finished the game as he started, making a hat trick of tries, converted by Dean Chisling.
