Torquay 19 - 7 Exmouth
On Saturday after a four week lay off due to weather and there being no matches the Exmouth RFC Quins squad travelled to Torquay to resume their league run.
From the start it was so obvious that the Quins had had such a long lay off Torquay were much the more aggressive and quicker thinking off the two teams. In appalling conditions it was going to be the team that made the least amount of mistakes that would capitalize, and it was Exmouth that made the early mistakes allowing Torquay to run in three tries in the first twenty minutes two of which were converted making the score nineteen points to nil. In the closing minutes of the first half the Quins started to string together some good moves in particular some good forward drives however Torquay's defence was just too good and the Quins were unable to cross the Torquay try line.
The weather conditions for the second half deteriorated even more with a gale blowing onto the Quins backs and the rain pouring down the game was becoming a bit of a lottery. Exmouth finally crossed the Torquay try line mid way through the second half when number eight Ben Waistell finished off a good forward drive and fly half Richard Cadywould converted the two points.
As the conditions worsened and the bad light was were making things dangerous the referee called both skipper together and the decision was made to abandon the game with ten minutes left to play, the final score being nineteen points to seven in Torquay's favour.
