Exmouth 26 - 0 Tiverton

Saturday saw Exmouth RFC 2nd Team back in league rugby against Tiverton 2nd team. The game started off with scoring opportunities for Exmouth and Tiverton, both teams being awarded kickable penalties within minutes of each, other however both kickers managed to hit the upright with the ball coming back into the field of play on both occasions and the defending team scrambling the ball away to touch.

The game then settled down and became some what of a power struggle between both sets of forwards with very little running rugby and neither side coming out on top. It took until the 35th for the first score to be registered when Exmouth centre Jonny Boltrukiewicz chipped the advancing Tiverton defensive line, gathered his own kick and went over the line to score Exmouth's first try, with fly half Ed Kirk converting to make the score 7 - 0 to Exmouth, and that's how it stayed until half time.

With Exmouth kicking off in the second half, this saw them apply the pressure on Tiverton which paid off within 3mins of the restart - Exmouth notched up their second try when lock Andrew Melbourne forced his way over the line to score, Ed Kirk converted which gave a score line Exmouth 14 Tiverton 0.

The game opened up a little with both sides attacking from all areas of the pitch however it took a further 30 minutes before the next score came when, from yet another driving maul, Exmouth's No 8 Chris Strong drove off the side of the maul only to be tackled metres short of the Tiverton line. From the resulting ruck Exmouth's scrum half Neil Hooper fed flanker Seb Phelps who went over the line unopposed 19 - 0 to Exmouth.

With the game more or less won, Exmouth kept the ball tight in the forwards and pinned Tiverton back in their own half and in the forth minute of injury time Jonny Boltrukiewicz popped up on the blind side to go over the Tiverton line for his second try and Exmouth's forth with Ed Kirk having the last kick of the game to add the extra 2 points - it gave a final score line of Exmouth 26 Tiverton 0.
