Paignton 0 - 50 Exmouth

Saturday saw the Exmouth RFC Quins squad, travel to Paignton to take on their second team in the league, and with Paignton being at the bottom of the league with only two wins to their name Exmouth were expected to come away easy winners.

From the kick they showed their intent running the ball straight back at Paignton, good inter play between the backs and forwards, the Quins were over the Paignton try line inside four minutes with young Sam Bull touching down in the corner, five nil to Exmouth. Whether it was the early score or whether Paignton picked their game up, that was the score line at half time, it was a half of mistakes, poor decision making and very little structure to the Exmouth game.

With skipper Tony Emmins laying the law down at half time the second half was a completely different game, it was organized, controlled and played with a game plan. However it took ten minutes for the Quins to brake down the Paignton defence when centre Barry Walton went over in the corner to finish off a well worked move. With Exmouth in total control of the game, tries were being scored at regular intervals.

There was another try for Sam Bull and two for another youngster up from the Colts Sean Fayter, there were also tries for Rich Cadywould, John Bird, Jack Westlake and five conversion for Rich Cadywould, making the final score fifty points to nil in Exmouth's favour. The two young Colts Sam Bull and Sean Fayter were made the men of the match with two solid performances at flanker and centre respectively.
