Exmouth 23 - 27 Redingensians

Exmouth were guilty of a below par finish to their meeting with Redingensians as they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at the Imperial Ground on Saturday.

It was a lack lustre performance across the park from the Cockles who, despite their recent superb home form, were not ahead in the contest until just pas the hour mark.

The visitors took advantage of a sluggish start by the Cockles and let 10-3 as the first half ran towards a close.  All the home followers had to celebrate at this stage was a penalty from the trusty boot of Rich Cadywould, whilst the away following had a similar successful kick and a penalty try to cheer.

A neat move following a scrum saw Dale Sleeman crash over for the Cockles and Cadywould converted but, crucially in the context of the game, the visitors replied almost immediately with a try of their own to go in with the advantage.

Within minutes of the restart, Cadywould got on the end of a Mark Wathes inspired break to score a try to level things up.

Murray Daniel then saw yellow after speaking out of turn to the match official, and this left the Cockles a man light, allowing the visitors to seize the initiative and score another try.

Back came the home side and a Cadywould penalty together with Jack Downie score from a penalty move, put the Cockles in charge for the first time in the contest.

With the clock ticking down and the home side simply needing to close the game out, the Cockles made a dreadful error inside their own 22.  They were caught out by some sloppy passing and the visiting full-back gleefully nabbed the ball to bounce over the line and turn certain defeat into victory for the Berkshire side.
